イギリスの女流作家。1899年生まれ。1973死去。 「925年から約50年にわたり70編近くの長編を量産した女流作家。あくまで謎解きをベースにしながら、人間の心理に鋭い洞察を加え、実在感のある市井の人々をあざやかに描き出したところに特徴がある。その作品の醸し出すサスペンスにも独特のものがあり、ひとたび読みだすとやめられない迫力にも満ちている。」（森英俊編著『世界ミステリ作家事典［本格派篇」より）』 |
